Dean's Lindy III - Class 2 1/22/2008 Notes - January 22, 2008
Posted: January 22, 2008

David covered a Texas Tommy, which has a rapid spin (5-6) for the follow with a "pronounced pop".

Important points:
- Lead must start the Follow moving before the turn "begins"
- It's important not to make hand movements too noisy. Keep hands steady and level.

Differences from standard swing-out:
- (1-4) are about the same with a left hand prep during 3-and-4 where lead positions the Follow's arm so that it is at her side for an easy throw from Lead's right hand to Lead's left.
- On (5), as Lead steps down-line, he also throws Follow's right arm straight down, and catching it in the next instant behind her back using his right hand. Follow will start spin clockwise.
- On (6-7), Follow should be spinning fast. Lead steps in place while passing Follow's right hand into his Left, using it to stop her spin.
- (7-and-8) triple step. Re-acquire counterbalance as usual.

Notes to self:
- Don't let the follow get to far away from you through 5 - otherwise you might miss the right hand catch.
- You can get a similar spin from the follow using a free-hand push-turn on 5.

Balboa class covered Triple Bal.
